Buying at auction, step by step.
From your first bid to driving away: exactly what happens, what it costs and when. An email confirms every stage, and your account shows where each purchase is.

Create your free account
Sign up with your name and email and confirm your address. Registering, watching cars and bidding cost nothing.
- 02
Browse and watch
Filter by make, price and sale type. Watch cars to follow them, or save a search to hear about new matches.
- 03
Read the lot
Photos, the condition report and its source, the check results, MOT data and the full cost at any price. This is the description of the car.
- 04
Bid or set a maximum
Place a bid, or set the most you will pay and we bid for you one step at a time. A late bid moves the end to 2 minutes after it, so nobody is sniped.
- 05
Win
If you lead when the timer ends and the reserve is met, the car is yours (on lots marked Result subject to approval, once we approve the sale). We confirm the sale by email.

Get your invoice
Your itemised invoice appears in your account with the hammer price, buyer's premium, any VAT and any delivery.
- 07
Pay by bank
Pay within 10 minutes by instant pay by bank: press Pay now on the invoice. The car goes to the first bidder who pays. No card fees and no card details shared.
- 08
Collect or get it delivered
Once paid, we book your collection appointment or delivery. Bring photo ID; the keys, V5C and any service history are handed over with the car.
Have these ready
- A Heritage Cars account with a confirmed email address.
- Your budget including fees: the buyer's premium is 5% of the hammer price, minimum £250, plus any VAT shown in the lot's price breakdown.
- Funds you can pay by bank straight away: the winner has 10 minutes to pay.
- Photo ID for your collection appointment.
Pay first, then collect
Vehicles are held securely until they are paid for. Once your payment has been received we book your appointment, and the car, keys and documents are released together at one controlled handover.
- Viewing and collection are by appointment only, after payment.
- Please collect within 7 days of paying.
- Door-to-door delivery to mainland UK can be quoted for any car.
