Bidding
How does a maximum bid work?
Enter the most you are willing to pay. We bid for you one increment at a time, only as far as needed to keep you in the lead. Other bidders only see the current price, never your maximum.
What happens if someone bids in the last few seconds?
A bid that changes the current bid or the leader in the final 2 minutes moves the end to 2 minutes after that bid. The auction ends only when 2 minutes pass without one.
How much must I bid above the current price?
It depends on the price: up to £999, £50; £1,000 to £4,999, £100; £5,000 to £9,999, £200; £10,000 to £24,999, £250; £25,000 and above, £500.
Can I withdraw a bid?
Bids are binding offers to buy. If you make an obvious typing error, contact us straight away and we will review it, but we cannot guarantee a retraction.
What does “reserve not met” mean?
The car has a confidential minimum price that bidding has not reached. If the auction ends below it, we may offer the car to the highest bidder at their bid.
What does “Result subject to approval” mean?
On a lot marked Result subject to approval, the highest bid becomes a sale only once we approve it after bidding closes, even when the lot has no reserve. If we do not approve it, no sale is made, you owe nothing and we email the highest bidder. Lots without this mark sell to the highest bidder automatically. See the auction rules.
When does Buy It Now disappear?
When bidding reaches 90% of the Buy It Now price.
Paying
What will I pay in total?
Your total is the hammer price (your winning bid), plus our buyer's premium of 5% of the hammer price, minimum £250, plus delivery if you choose it and accept the quote, plus any other charge shown on the lot before you bid. Any VAT is shown in the lot's price breakdown and on your invoice. The amount payable is itemised on the lot before you bid and on your invoice before you pay. See fees for worked examples.
How do I pay?
When you win, an itemised invoice appears in your account straight away with a Pay now button. Pay it in full within 10 minutes: the car goes to the first bidder who pays, so if your payment is not in by then the sale is cancelled and the car is offered to the next-highest bidder. A car bought from our stock is paid within 24 hours of its invoice.
You pay by bank through our payment provider: scan the QR code or press Pay by bank on the invoice, then check the payee and the amount in your banking app before you approve the payment. Use only the payment instructions shown in your account.
We will never ask you to pay into a personal account, or to use changed bank details sent by email, text or phone, and we never ask for card or bank details by phone or email. If anything looks unusual, contact us before you pay. Bank payments do not come with the chargeback protection that some card payments have.
Do you accept cards or offer finance?
Not at the moment. You are welcome to arrange your own finance before you bid.
Will I get an invoice?
Every purchase comes with an itemised invoice, available to view and print from your account.
What if I win but do not pay?
A winning bid is a binding offer to buy, and the contract is formed when we confirm the sale by email and issue your invoice (on lots marked Result subject to approval, only once we approve the result).
You have 10 minutes to pay. If the invoice is not paid in full by then, the sale is cancelled and the car is offered to the next-highest bidder at their own highest bid, who has 10 minutes to pay, and so on until someone pays. The car goes to the first person who pays. There is no fee for missing the time, and a payment that reaches us after the car has moved on is returned in full.
As our terms of sale explain, if a buyer repeatedly does not pay we may suspend their account from bidding. We do not charge penalties that are not set out in our terms and fees, and none of this removes your statutory rights.
If you cannot pay, contact us straight away.
Collection and delivery
Can I view or test drive a car before bidding?
Only where the lot says a viewing or test drive is available. Otherwise each car is sold on its listing: photos, condition report, checks, MOT history and documents.
Every lot shows whether our team has physically inspected the car or whether it is described from the seller's details and official records. You can ask us for more information before you bid. Not being able to view a car does not remove your statutory rights as a consumer.
When can I collect?
Once your payment has been received we contact you to book an appointment. Collection is by appointment only; please collect within 7 days of paying.
What should I bring?
Photo ID that matches your account. If someone collects for you, tell us when you book and ask them to bring their own photo ID.
Can someone collect for me?
Yes. Tell us their name before the appointment. They must bring their own valid photo ID and any written authorisation we ask for. The car is released only after your payment has cleared and these checks are complete.
Do you deliver?
Yes, to addresses in mainland UK only. Delivery is optional and quoted per car, and you agree the price before you pay for it.
What paperwork comes with the car?
Your invoice and the documents listed on the lot. The lot shows the number of keys and the service history where we have recorded them, and anything known to be missing, such as the V5C or a second key, is noted there. We do not promise documents we do not hold.
Where we hold the V5C registration certificate (logbook), the change of registered keeper is made through the DVLA and we explain how. A V5C shows the registered keeper. It is not proof of ownership.
Cars and checks
Has every car been inspected?
No. Each lot shows which of its five checks have been completed, and a check is shown as done only when it has been.
Cars our team has physically inspected carry the Heritage Inspection seal. A Checked by Heritage badge means the car has a dated Heritage inspection report on its page, showing what was checked and what was found. Other cars are described from the seller's details and official records and are marked “Not physically inspected”.
An inspection is not a guarantee against every hidden fault. Known faults are disclosed on the listing. See condition reports.
How do you check that a vehicle can lawfully be sold?
Each lot shows which checks have been completed for that car. Where the HPI history check has been done, it covers recorded outstanding finance, theft, write-off, scrapping and mileage records, and the result is shown on the lot. Where it has not been done yet, the lot says so.
A history check is only as complete as the records it searches, so it is not an absolute guarantee. A V5C shows the registered keeper and is not proof of ownership. If you have a question about a car's history or ownership, ask us before you bid. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Can I rely on an MOT or history report as a warranty?
No. An MOT records the result of a test on a particular day. It does not guarantee that the car will stay roadworthy, and it does not describe its mechanical condition. Vehicle history databases also have limits. Each lot shows which checks have been done and, where we have recorded it, when, together with any warnings we know about. Your statutory rights are not affected.
After you buy
What if the car differs from its description?
Contact us promptly at [email protected] with the lot reference, photographs and a description of the difference. We will look at the listing, the inspection information and the handover or delivery records, and explain the remedy available. Nothing in our terms limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where they apply.
What if the vehicle cannot be supplied?
If we cannot complete a confirmed sale, we will contact you promptly, explain why and give you the refund or other remedy the law requires. We will not substitute a different vehicle without your express agreement.
Can I return a car?
If you buy as a consumer you can cancel within 14 days of receiving the car, and you have your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The terms of sale explain how.
How do I make a complaint?
Email [email protected] with your name, the lot or invoice reference, your contact details, what went wrong and the outcome you are looking for. We will look into it and keep you updated.

Is it free to register?
Yes. Registering, watching cars, saving searches and bidding are all free.
